"At the River’s Edge" Serra Museum Walking Tour

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday March 26

1:00 PM  –  2:00 PM

This walking tour begins at the Junípero Serra Museum located at 2727 Presidio Drive in San Diego.

Learn about the historical significance of the area going back to deep time, how the unique river and marine environment attracted people to the site. Discover how archaeologists and historians have been able to understand what buildings and structures were part of the Presidio de San Diego and reconstruct what they may have looked like.

Afterwards, browse the exhibition inside the Serra Museum. Hear from Kumeyaay people today, the people that lived along the river’s edge since time immemorial, as well as the stories of people that came to settle the area.

At this time, the Serra Museum—a historic building constructed in 1928—and its grounds do not meet current standards for accessibility. This walking tour will cover several different elevations, consisting of uneven surfaces and paths, some sloped or with stairs, and few with handrails. Please wear appropriate footwear.
